This activity takes place in the historic quarter of Valencia. We will guide students through the historic streets of the Barri del Carme. In groups of three or more, they will take pictures of the urban street art that most catches their attention, selecting at least three different pieces.
Students will then complete a worksheet detailing the basic information of each chosen piece. The worksheets are adapted to the different language levels. Students are required to answer basic questions that identify the selected work of art and its location as well as more specific level-appropriate questions about the pieces. Lastly, they are asked to prepare a small group presentation on the chosen artwork in order to practice their oral communication skills in class. For the presentation, they can use digital tools such as PowerPoint or Canva.
The higher-level students will be asked to write a brief description of the artworks to be featured in the class blogs. The purpose of these blogs is to give students the opportunity to share their work and experiences with their peers and create a collective memory of their time in Valencia. Crafting these short blog entries gives the students a chance to really improve their writing skills..
