With the arrival of February comes an especially crucial time for the Valencian people: Las Fallas. These festivities are held in March, but from February onwards there are different celebrations that open the door to the biggest festival celebrated in Valencia.

Do you know them? Have you ever been to Fallas in Valencia? If so, you already know everything that is going to happen, but if you have never been, we will tell you what is going to happen and what you will be able to see and enjoy during these festivities.

The ‘Ninot’ Exhibition is one of the most important events of the Fallas festival in Valencia. It takes place every year before the celebration of Las Fallas and consists of an exhibition of figures, or ninots, made of papier-mâché and created by special artists to be burnt during the last night of the festivities, the 19th of March, Saint Joseph's Day.

The ‘Ninot’ Exhibition usually takes place between the months of February and March as part of the Fallas festivities. This year, the exhibition will be open from the 4th of February until the 15th of March, giving visitors the opportunity to view and vote for their favourite figures before they are burnt on the night of the 19th of March. The exhibition is a very popular event in Valencia and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Artists work throughout the year to create their monuments with all their main figures, and their work is rewarded by the votes of the visitors who come to the exhibition. The popular vote is an important aspect of the festivities, and the artists strive to create innovative, fun, and provocative figures that attract the attention of visitors and help them win votes. At the end of the event, the winning figures are announced and awarded for their creativity and artistic skills.

Of all the figures, from both the large and small monuments, only one from each category is "saved" from the fire and preserved as an example of the festive tradition. This figure is considered the best in its category and is kept in the Fallas Museum of Valencia as a memento of the Fallas festivities. This process of ‘salvation’ is an important aspect of the festivities, as it allows the tradition and history of these celebrations to be preserved for future generations.

The ‘Ninot’ Exhibition is considered to be the official kick-off of the fiestas in Valencia and marks the beginning of a month full of celebrations, competitions, parades and, of course, the burning of hundreds of monuments. The Fallas in Valencia are one of the most important festivities in Spain and attract thousands of visitors every year. With the opening of the Ninot Exhibition, the inhabitants of Valencia and visitors to the city are immersed in a month of joy, colour and tradition, and the rest of the events and festivities continue until the day of the burning of the Fallas monuments.

If this is your first visit to Valencia at this time of year, the exhibition is a must where you can choose which figure you want to be ‘saved’ from the fire and preserved in the Museum.

This is not the only event that will be held in Valencia during these days, but it is the first one, so if you do not want to miss any of these magical festivities, start to discover them now.

I really hope you enjoy Las Fallas.
