The ICBiBE operates in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Valencia. As a research institute, it reports directly to the Vice-Rectorate for Research. Its organizational structure is founded on democratic principles that ensure transparency and shared governance.

The Institute Council is the highest governing body of the Institute. It is composed of 40 members representing various academic and professional levels, and its composition is renewed every three years.

The Permanent Board acts as the executive body delegated by the Council and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of the Institute’s activities. It is formed by 14 members.

The Director of the Institute is elected by the Council for a six-year term, while the Secretary of the Institute is appointed by the Director.
