The research group has extensive experience in the application of atomic and molecular spectroscopy, chromatography and electrochemistry analytical techniques in various types of matrices, as well as in the development and use of different chemometric methods for the resolution of interferences in the analytical signals obtained. In the treatment of the sample, various materials have been developed for the optimisation of the extraction of compounds of interest and/or elimination of interferences, improving the analytical methods in terms of sensitivity and selectivity. The samples used have been solid, liquid and gaseous and applications have been developed in various fields such as the environment, food and industrial hygiene. The most recent field of research has been the use of portable instrumentation for on-site analysis, for example, the use of smartphones as measuring equipment.
- Development of sustainable methods for sampling and treatment of gaseous, liquid and solid samples.
- Optimization of sampling and representativeness of gaseous samples.
- Improve sample treatment by using new support materials to increase analyte retention and minimize that of interferents.
- Simplification of analytical instrumentation, using simple and portable measurement systems such as smartphones.
- Minimizing waste in analytical methods.
- Occupational environmental atmospheres: measurement and risk assessment..Sampling and analysis of work atmospheres is required by our legislation for the assessment of chemical risks at work. The aim is to improve them, as well as the statistical methodologies that enable situations to be classified as risky or acceptable.
- Sustainable sample treatments using mesoporous materials. The use of mesoporous materials that may contain cyclodextrins in their structure enables the preconcentration of analytes and the cleaning of the matrix in complex samples. The materials are reusable and the procedures are more sustainable than the use of commercial materials.
