OVAGAP aims to bring together researchers from the University of Valencia and from various institutes, universities, and research centers whose fields of study include the analysis of institutional factors that facilitate or hinder (barriers) the achievement of optimal indicators of environmental governance, with special attention to the management of resources and spaces in the Valencian Community. In addition, OVAGAP is committed to highlighting the University of Valencia's role in disseminating and raising awareness through the updating and transfer of scientific knowledge about past trajectories, present realities, and future scenarios of a climatic and institutional nature, all related to the role of Public Administrations in the governance of Valencian natural resources. Therefore, OVAGAP's actions are aimed at gathering scientific evidence, generating knowledge, and disseminating research results that strengthen the social and institutional capacities of the Valencian environmental governance system through the prioritized analysis of administrative variables.
- Analyze and evaluate the joint participation of Public Administrations, civil society actors and academic institutions in the development of proposals to improve the effectiveness of public policies aimed at the environmental protection of resources and protected natural spaces in the Valencian Community.
- To contribute to the generation and updating of scientific knowledge on the environmental governance of the Valencian Community, identifying the institutional barriers and facilitators that influence public management policies on protected areas.
- To disseminate to society as a whole the main findings on governance regarding different forms of environmental protection, as well as to propose effective management alternatives through different methodologies of dialogue between traditional, professional and academic knowledge on the matters that are the focus of attention by OVAGAP
- Promote the formation of networks between Public Administrations, civil society actors and research groups to generate synergies that strengthen institutional capacities for environmental governance in the face of the different climate scenarios defined by the main recent prospective strategies.
- Adaptation, Mitigation, and Management of the Effects and Impacts of Climate Change Analysis and Evaluation of Institutional Barriers and Facilitators of the governance..The group addresses climate change adaptation, mitigation and management, analysing institutional barriers and facilitators for environmental governance. It promotes institutional innovation and new governance schemes, with an emphasis on citizen participation, dissemination and awareness-raising.
