The Regional Economy Research Group, ECOREG, was created with the intention of bringing together a group of researchers working on different aspects of the regional economy. The research focuses on fundamental aspects of regional development, with special attention to factors related to the advance of productivity and the transformation of the economic model to face the challenges of the digital and green transition.
The research is included within the following lines:
1) Knowledge economy and economic development: This line analyzes the impact of intangibles such as human capital and innovation on the development of the territory. The advancement of digitalization and its effects on productivity and growth are also investigated.
2) Institutions and economic and social progress: This line focuses on the study of formal and informal institutions at a regional level, such as the quality of institutions or social capital, and their impact on the progress of societies, both on economic aspects and other social aspects such as social inclusion, personal freedoms or gender aspects.
