Erasmus Staff with representatives from the Library Service

Two librarians participating in the Erasmus Staff programme, Abdullah Turan, from the library of the İstanbul Bilgi University (Turkey), and Orsolya Tirpák, from the library of the University of Debrecen (Hungary), visited the Library Service of the Universitat de València last week. The visit, which lasted four days, consisted of an immersion in the different libraries that make up the Library Service of our University.

According to the library managers, the visiting staff spent the morning of the first day in the Central Sections office, in La Nau building, where the director of the service, Victoria García Esteve, presented the organisation chart and structure of the SBD. Afterwards, the section heads explained each of their functions and sections: Research Support, Information Resources Management, Technology and Systems, Communication and Training and Own Digital Resources.

On the second day, in the Historical Library and the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, they learned about the collections and funds that are housed and the dissemination activities that are carried out. Later, the librarians visited the Joan Reglà Humanities Library and the Health Sciences Library. They particularly enjoyed the visit to the Map Library, where the staff showed them some old maps and plans of Turkey and Budapest.

On the third day, it was the turn of the Burjassot Campus. At the Science Library they had a guided tour after a video presentation by the library staff. They then visited the Museum of Natural History, where they were able to see the famous Pomar Codex, a piece of the Historical Library, as well as a complete tour of its 32 scientific collections.

The fourth day, was dedicated to the Tarongers Campus. In the Social Sciences Library they toured the building, admiring the seven floors full of books and students. Finally, they visited the Education Library where they got to know the incipient "Createca" and all its special collections.
