‘Nius, Somnis i Temps’, new exhibition of sculptures made of hemp, esparto, chalk and cane at the Jardí Botànic

One of the pieces of the exhibition ‘Nius, Somnis i Temps’.

Universitat de València’s Jardí Botànic hosts the exhibition ‘Nius, Somnis i Temps’ (nests, dreams and time), a group of sculptures made of hemp, esparto, chalk and cane by Josep Albert. These sculptures make us dream of either a fairytale world or a giant insects’ invasion. ‘The raw materials I use are natural fibres I grow up with. I am obsessed with how they feel and smell, and their warmth’, explains Josep Albert.

The exhibition can be visited until June 10th at Jardí Exterior, Monday to Sunday. The opening hours start at 10:00 and the closing time must be consulted since may be different depending on the month. Entrance is free for the Jardí’s visitors.

Josep Albert studied fine arts, specializing in drawing and sculpture, and has enjoyed several grants by the programme Sudamérica Intercampus. Nowadays, he is a lecturer of plastic and visual arts and has participated in ten individual and collective exhibitions. He has also shown his works in different international fairs. Moreover, he has won many prizes and mentions like Concurso Nacional de Pintura ‘El Piló’, Premio Senyera (awarded by the Valencian art gallery El Tossal), or Premio Flecha 2007, among others.
