
The third edition of the programme of Santander Scholarships for internships in Pymes (the Spanish term for SMEs), whose registration period ended last 15 February, has been closed with elevated participation: 69,469 university students registered and 10,164 small and medium enterprises, a 17% more than in 2013. Out of the total, 2,662 applicants are students of the UV.
Bank Santander develops this programme of scholarships since 2011 through its Global Division “Santander Universidades”, in collaboration with the CRUE (Rectors' Conference of Spanish Universities) and CEPYME (Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprise).
In the Valencian Community, 8,313 students aim for one of the 591 assigned scholarships to the universities of Valencia, Alicante and Castellon, while 1,378 Pymes (SMEs) in this Community have been registered in the programme, a 17% more than last year.
The same as in 2013, the initiative offers 5,000 scholarships so as to students of a Master or a Degree of Spanish universities could undertake internships in enterprises, remunerated with 1,800 euros during a minimum of 3 months-length period. In the last edition, a 47% of enterprises enlarged their scholarship holder’s stay, either enlarging the scholarship or incorporating the student to the staff.
17,500 scholarships until 2015
In this third edition, 5,000 other university students around Spain will be able to undertake professional remunerated scholarships in Pymes (SMEs) along 2014. By the end of this academic year, 12,500 students will have been benefited of these scholarships since 2011-2012, and 5,000 students more will be benefited next course 2014-2015, as, Emilio Botín, the president of Bank Santander, announced last May.
With the third edition, Bank Santander, through the group “Santander Universidades”, will have contributed more than 22 million of euros to this programme, which runs directly to the universities.
