65 countries apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarships in work psychology

The Universitat de València, coordinator of the masters’ degree Master Erasmus Mundus de Psicología del Trabajo, Organizaciones y Recursos Humanos (European Master on Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology), has received more than two hundred applications from 65 different countries for the master’s scholarships. These studies are organized by a consortium of universities and headed by professor José María Peiró, who is also director of IDOCAL (University Research Institute of Human Resources Psychology, Organizational Development and Quality of Working Life).

59 European candidates have applied from 24 European countries (Germany, Poland, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Russia, among others), 44 graduate students from 13 Asian countries (China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, etc.), 54 candidates from American countries (USA, Canada, Colombia, Brasil, Mexico, Chile, ect.), 51 from Africa (Argelia, Etiopía, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Ruanda, etc.) and 1 from Australia.

The masters’ degree has 120 ECTS and is taught by a universities consortium of seven institutions: Barcelona, Bolognia, Brasilia, Coimbra, Paris-Descartes, Quebec and Valencia. Each student must take a compulsory mobility period of at least one semester. A double diploma is granted by the two European institutions where the student has been studying depending on his/her mobility plan. The masters’ degree has got an international teaching staff as well. Around 15 visiting lecturers teach each year in the programme. A master thesis is included in the curriculum as well as an internship, usually in international companies or organizations.

At Universitat de València, all subjects are taught in English. At the Gandia’s Centro Internacional, there is the Winter School, which consist of two intensive weeks of learning. All the students form the rest of universities and some other twelve students from international masters’ degrees and doctorates participate then in the programme, after being selected by the consortium coordiantion team.
