A conference in Mathematics disclose Statistical applications in the International Year of discipline

The University of Valencia hosts this Wednesday, 25 September, a Conference of Disclosure and Enforcement of Statistics. 2013 has been declared as the International Year of the discipline, applied to fields as diverse as medicine, journalism, genetics, physics, astronomy, biology or history.

In the conference, three round tables will present the application of this science in Biology and Health Sciences, Socioeconomics and Media. There will also be a roundtable discussion of students and a poster session.

The organizing committee of the conference is made up by the teachers and researchers in Statistics Francisco Santonja, David Conesa, Carmen Armero and Francisco Montes, and on the part of student body, Héctor Iftimi and Adina Perpignan.

Year 2013, the first International Year of Statistics, is to be held in the University of Valencia with the aim "to bring, disseminate and share the role of statistics in our society and the passion of statistical probabilistic models attempt to bring real world data," according to the organizing committee.

Statistics, besides being an independent scientific discipline, has become an indispensable tool and valuable in so many different areas such as genetic epidemiology, the disease monitoring systems, methods of pest control, localization procedures for the banks of fish, quality control in industrial, methods of cost / effectiveness for evaluating drugs or exposure to pollutants and pesticides in food, among many other uses. 

The Day of Disclosure and Application of Statistics is a specific activity of University Extension Activity validated for credit to undergraduate students.
