
Fifty works of the Martínez Guerricabeitia Collection of Universitat de València will be exhibited, from 4th June to 29th July 2015, in the Llotja de Sant Jordi in Alcoy due to the “Valencian Art in the Martínez Guerricabeitia Collection” exhibition, curated by Art History full university professor Juan Ángel Blasco Carrascosa. The event will start at 20h on Thursday.
The opening event will have the presence of the manager of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València, Cristóbal Suria; the exhibition curator, Blasco Carrascosa; and the technical director of the City Council of Alcoy, Antoni Miró.
Universitat de València benefits from one of the best contemporary art collections which belong to a Spanish public university thanks to the donation made by the Martínez Guerricabeitia family in 1999. This collection, managed by the Martínez Guerricabeitia Pattern of the General Foundation of Universitat de València, is made up by set of critical social contemporary works with the goal of removing consciences.
The City Council of Alcoy, which supports the potential of the Martínez Guerricabeitia Collection, organised this exhibition with the support of the Miró Chair of Contemporary Art of University of Alacant. The sample presents a selection of 50 works of Valencian artists, all of them were born in the century XX, consolidated authors, unique and necessary nouns to understand the history of Valencian contemporary art. They are painters, sculptors, draughtsmen, among them we know Josep Renau, Joan Genovés, Anzo, Andreu Alfaro, Ripollés, Rafael Armengol, Manuel Boix, Jordi Ballester, Antoni Miró, Carmen Calvo, Rosa Torres or Pilar Dolz, as well as Chronical Team and Reality Team.
Access to the exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30 to 13:30 and from 17:30 to 20:30 h; and Sunday and holidays, from 11:30 to 13:30 h.
