A technician of the UV and his daughter, graduated in Nursing, awarded in an international festival about medical cinema

Raúl J.Sales, director of scientific cinema and technician of the Universitat de València, and his daughter Marta Sales, a just graduated student by the same academic institution, have been awarded in the 19th International contest of Medical Cinema, Health and Telemedicine (VideoMed) which took place in Badajoz.

Raúl J. Sales has received the prize for Best Surgery Film. The film, recorded in the Hospital Clínico Universitario of Valencia, is entitled Recidiva Intracardiaca de Timoma Invasor. The intervention, which was realized by the doctor Iván Martín González, heart surgeon and lecturer of the Department of Surgery of the Universitat de València, received the “Surgery Prize. Specialities and surgical technics. Microsurgery, transplant, implant, laparoscopy, robotics, metabolic surgery, obesity surgery, new equipment and products for surgery”.

Raúl Sales has stated that: “It’s an honour to place again the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València, its Department of Surgery, the city of Valencia and our Comunitat in the highest position of the field of worldwide scientific spreading”.

VideoMed is considered as the medical cinema contest most important in the world. In this occasion, 300 films were presented and 126 were selected from countries such as China, Brazil, Belgium, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Italy, Cuba, Colombia, Sweden or Mexico.

Marta Sales Pérez received the Special Jury Prize in the category VIDEOMED Junior for the film Cuidados en el paciente Colostomizado. The film realized along with nurses María Victoria Rodríguez Peréz and Almudena Gisbert Guillem, as a work for the subject of Médico-Quirúrgica II, in the Faculty of Nursing of the Universitat de València.

Moreover, another film of the Valencian director Exploración de la Rodilla, with a script written by the orthopaedic Damián Mifsut, which was finalist in the Biennial Festival of Scientific Cinema of Ronda, where the first prize was for the film Wilmed el último bosque mediterráneo with eight Goya nominations.
