Alberto Rodríguez presents “La isla mínima” at the Universitat de València

The filmmaker Alberto Rodríguez will present his last film, “La isla mínima”, this Wednesday, February 11, at the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication of the Universitat de València. The film has become winner at the Goya Awards, that were delivered last Saturday. Alberto Rodriguez’s film was candidate to 17 nominations, among them, the categories of best film, best director and best original script.

Alberto Rodríguez is one of the most important filmmakers in Spanish cinema nowadays. His previous film, “Grupo 7”, a crime film set in Seville previous to Expo 92, obtained an outstanding recognition of criticism and audience. At “La isla mínima”, Rodríguez and his scriptwriter Rafael Cobos, elaborate a reflection about the police transition based on the history of two police officers that have to investigate a crime at the Guadalquivir marshlands  in the early 1980s. The film was highly acclaimed in the past Festival of San Sebastián and, since then, he has had a major commercial success.

 

Four days after the Goya Awards, Alberto Rodríguez presents “La isla mínima” at the Universitat de València. The screening will be accomplished at 10:30, at the assembly hall at the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication (Blasco Ibáñez 32) and, when the film is finished, Alberto Rodríguez will talk to the assistants about the process of filmmaking. 

 

The event, moderated by Manuel de la Fuente, will be attended by Santiago Renard and Jenaro Talens (all three are professors of Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat de València) and was organized by the Master in Intercultural Communication and European Studies and Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences, in collaboration with the Aula de Cinema of the Universitat de València. Admission is free until full capacity.
