Alicia Salvador, new Dean of Facultat de Psicologia

Alicia Salvador was appointed last March 13th as the new Dean of Universitat de València’s Facultat de Psicologia. She will be replacing José Ramos in the academic position. The new Dean was the only candidate in the elections: she gained 41 votes in favor and 10 blank votes. The new team will be made up of Ana Tur Porcar, Esperanza González Bono, Vicente Martínez Tur, M Teresa Cortés Tomás, Salvador Amigó Borrás and Jesús González Moreno.

From 2002, Alicia Salvador Fernández-Montejo is a full university professor of psychology at Universitat de València. She got a degree and a doctorate in psychology by the same university and she has also graduated in education science. The most part of her research is focused on the biological basis of social behaviour, and on human and animal research. During the last years, her research interests go for the effects of social stress on the cognitive function.

She has supervised research projects, which were financed by the state, since 1990. Nowadays, she is the main researcher in a Prometeo project titled ‘Estrés y Salud: factores de vulnerabilidad y resistencia’ (stress and health: vulnerability and endurance). She has supervised sixteen doctoral theses, published more than a hundred papers in international scientific journals of her studies field -Psychoneuroendocrinology, Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, Biological Psychology, etc.-, and has been part of several assessment committees for researchers.

The new Dean is a member in different international scientific boards (SBN, ISPNE, ISRA,FENS) and national ones (SENC, SEPNECA). She has been president of the Valencian organization for psychological studies -Sociedad Valenciana de Estudios de Psicología- (2002-2008) and Spanish organization for psychophysiology -Sociedad Española de Psicofisiología from 2006 to2008.

Alicia Salvador has been taking part for many years in different university committees and has been member of the Constituent University Senate. In the last years, she has been coordinator of Departament de Psicobiologia (2004-2011), and currently she is member of the Senate, the Advisory Committee and the Governing Council.
