Alumni UV (former students) visit in March Villamalur, the republican Valencia main line of resistance

The village of Villamalur marks, for the most recent history of the Valencian Country, a key point of study since it is the place where the main defensive system of the republican Valencia against Franco’s forces was built. Alumni UV are visiting this village next 6 March, in an activity organised by the ‘Club de Viatges Fil-per-Randa’.

This area was one of the most active points during the Civil war at the Sierra de Espadán. The republican army built a defensive system, known as resistance line, that was reinforced and rebuilt by the National troops when they took the village of Villamalur.

Nowadays, the location offers the possibility of making a green route through the strengthened trenches and the castle.

Activities organised by Alumni UV
The programme organised by Alumni UV this March is completed with the Reading and Gastronomy Group, and a new edition of Alumni Comparteix, a cycle led by the members of the Universitat de València collective through talks, workshops, seminars and free master classes.

On 1 March, the Reading Club will analyse, at the Municipal Livrary ‘Palacio de la Exposición’, the novel ‘La mujer justa’  by Sándor Márai, in an edition that, in Spanish, brings together for the first time the first two parts published in 1941 in Hungary, and the third one, written by Márai during his exile in Italy and added to th 1941 German version.

The Gastrononmy Club, on the other side, will be reunited on 9 March at ‘Valencia Club Cocina’ in a session during which its members will take a practical workshop led by the chef Vanesa Bustos with the aim of learning to work with agricultural products and which are their beneficial properties for the consumer.

Finally, this month Alumni Comparteix is back with a ‘mindfulness’ free workshop or relaxation and comfort session, given by Ana San Antonio, from the Faculty of Psychology of the Universitat de València and Alumni UV member. The aim of the workshop, as its tutor states, is ‘to give a learning space for relaxation techniques and promotion of personal comfort’.
