The Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and communication at the University of Valencia hosts from Wednesday 8 May, and until Friday 10, an international conference under the theme 'Promoting and disseminating French today in Spain', which aims to analyse the "challenges and prospects for cooperation and linguistic, cultural, educational and university action".
The conference, coordinated by professors Sophie Aubin and Raphaël Bruchet, will count on the participation of teachers and specialists from France, Spain and other countries. It is organised by the Teaching Unit of French Philology, with the collaboration of the French Embassy in Madrid and the Institut Français d'Espagne.
In the first of the three days of the conference Alain Fohr, cultural counselor of the French Embassy, is scheduled to speak on the current status of the French language and culture in Spain.
The conference aims to bring together members of the scientific and educational community interested in linguistic and cultural cooperation between France and Spain and is aimed particularly at people concerned about expanding the teaching of French in Spain. Participation is open to researchers, teachers, students and observers.
