The Hall la Muralla of the Rector Peset Hall of Residence hosts, from 12 to 20 June, the last Bigyi’s exhibition named Dibujos (Drawings), which will be inaugurated this Friday, at 20:00. It is a small sample of the last of her works, where he remembers his journeys through the sacred Chinese mountains.
As the MAKMA magazine recently reviewed, Bingyi is inspired by the great classic artists of the Chinese paintings to evocate personal experiences which are very rooted in nature, through pictorial interventions related to the Land Art, understood from the Shan-Shui (mountain-water) perspective, where the elements are painted through the artist and not the other way round.
In this sense, Bingyi points out: “I paint with the weather; I control temperature, humidity and the very territory I am working in” I don’t paint water and mountains, but the mountains and the water paint through me”.
The exhibition hosted at the Rector Peset Hall of Residence presents different sizes, from small paintings to a huge composition which covers all the Islamic wall of the Hall, where Bingyi displays lights and shadows, subtle and slight spots, with Chinese ink.
Bingyi is an outstanding example of the current Chinese art scene; the artist has been trained in the USA and China. She lives and works between East and West, and her paintings are exhibited in different museums in Brussels, Chicago or New York, among other cities.
