
Bioncotech Therapeutics company, located in the University of Valencia Science Park, has been rewarded with the IV Innovators Award, which is given by the newspaper El Mundo, in the field of Innovation in Quality of Life. Bioncotech is a bio-pharmacist ‘spin-off’ created in 2010 within the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO). Bioncotech’s work is focused on the research and development of new treatments for covering non-satisfied medical necessities, especially in oncology and autoimmune inflammatory diseases
Those are two lines of work that bring the company a sustainable growth and an important list of awards.
Supported by the government-supported public foundation Genoma España, Bioncotech counts on the 'Entrepreneurship Award XXI century' from la Caixa, and the ‘Valencia Idea 10’ from Gas Natural Cegas SA, apart from a special mention from ‘Enterprise Creation Award CEEI IMPIVA’, among others. The director and co-founder, the Valencian biologist Damià Tormo, is one of the young innovators rewarded at TR35 Spain, Award conferred by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), through the magazine Technology Review, in recognition of those “fascinating, inspiring and new works, capable of revolutionizing the world of technology and business”.
Damià Tormo was the person who collected the Innovators Award 2012 on behalf of the company last Friday, 14 December, within the framework of the newspaper El Mundo ceremony ‘Idees+Capital, la fórmula del creixement'.
