
The Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, hosts the exhibition ‘Fotoaves’, the photographic competition organized by SEO/Birdlife, which has the top 30 snapshots of this fourth edition. In the contest have participated it people from 13 different countries. The landscapes and the species native to the forests are the core of the exhibition, to commemorate the International Year of Forests, stated in 2011, when the contest was announced.
The contest has been sponsored by Swarovsky Optik and Óptica Roma, and with the collaboration of Tamron, Manfrotto, fotonatura org. and AEFONA.
Lola Fernández has won the first prize of the competition, with the image of an elusive Eurasian wryneck belonging to the category of Aus Forestals d’Espanya. In the other two categories the awarded have been the Dutch Matjan Lammertink with Aus Forestals del món, for his black woodpecker of an Argentine forest, and an atypical picture of a Navarre beech of Eduardo Blanco Mendizábal in the category Boscos del Planeta.
The travelling exhibition Fotoaves will remain in the Estufa Freda of the Botanical Garden until 27 January of 2013, visiting hours are from Monday to Sunday, between 10:00 and 18:00. The Spanish Ornithological Society aims to disseminate the wealth of Iberian and global birdlife with the exhibition, in order to raise awareness of the need of its conservation.
The conservation NGO is working since 1954 to study and protect birds and nature in general, and already has more than 12.000 members and 5.000 volunteers in Spain, as well as local groups.
