The University of Bucharest (Romania) has awarded the title of doctor ‘honoris causa’ to Valencian chemists Miguel Julve (Department of Inorganic Chemistry/ Institute for Molecular Science, University of Valencia) and Francesc Lloret (Department of Inorganic Chemistry/ Institute for Molecular Science, University of Valencia
Avelino Corma (Institute for Chemical Technology, CSIC, Universitat Politècnica de València) was also invested. All three are professors and researchers, with innovative contributions in various fields of chemistry, such as the catalysis or inorganic chemistry. The corresponding investiture took place on 11, 12 and 13 June 2014 as part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the creation of the University of Bucharest.
In granting the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to researchers Miguel Julve, Francesc Lloret and Avelino Corma, the University of Bucharest honours the outstanding scientific performance of these chemists and expresses its gratitude for their participation in the development of research projects successfully carried out at the University of Bucharest.

Francesc Lloret, born in Pego (Alicante) in 1954, has developed a prodigious scientific activity of more than 30 years in the field of chemistry. Doctor by the University of Valencia he is a leader in the field of molecular magnetism, priority research area in the European Union. His research is focused on the unusual magnetic interactions between metal ions. His works, totalling more than 470, have been published in major international journals of chemistry, such as “Chemical Communications”, “Dalton Transactions”, “Inorganic Chemistry”, etc...
Avelino Corma is Founder and Director of the Institute for Chemical Technology of the University of Valencia. Born in Moncofar, Spain, in 1951, Avelino Corma has developed an extensive work in chemistry, in the area of catalysis. He has opened new frontiers in the development of catalytic materials and has transferred concepts to industrial applications. Avelino Corma has around 100 patents, either through his own projects or along with private companies. All the achievements gave him important prizes, such as the Dupont and the Spanish Prize of Science and Technology Leonardo Torres Quevedo.
