Consum, Fundación Instituto Valenciano de Oncología (IVO) and Vicente Tolodí, awarded in the XIX Awards Universidad-Sociedad

Consum Cooperativa, the Fundación del Instituto Valenciano de Oncología (IVO) and the art expert Vicente Tolodí have been some of the awarded with the XIX Awards Universidad-Sociedad. These awards, which will be delivered on 16 December , are sponsored by the Consell Social of the Universitat de València in order to recognise the best examples of cooperation between the university and society.

The Valencian cooperative Consum have been to the “Trajectory of collaboration” in recognition of the exemplary development and implementation of cooperation programs that the firm has with the Universitat de València. Since 1996 both institutions collaborate closely through agreements of student placements, placement programs for teachers in the business, participation in conferences, forums and sponsorships. Consum is part of the Board of the University-Enterprise Foundation (ADEIT) since September 2004 and is a member of the Board Chair for Business Culture which actively collaborates through Mentoring Program for University Entrepreneurs since June 2013. 

 

In the category of “Research and Development”, which seeks to recognize I+D projects (Spanish initials for “Research and Development”) between teams from the UV and companies or institutions in which a relationship of cooperation model is established, the award has gone to the collaboration that the Fundación Instituto Valenciano de Onocología (IVO) with the research team 'Personality and Health' of the UV. The relationship dates back to 1985, when the first research project in the area of Psycho-oncology funded in Spain was stablished. This relationship also results in the cooperation in the development of two own postgraduate courses at the UV: the Master’s degree in Psycho-oncology and Diploma in Psycho-social Care for Oncology Patient.

 

The main new of this edition has been the incorporation of the category 'Alumni Plus', with the aim of recognizing the professional, academic and/or business excellence of an old student of the Universitat de València. In this part, the jury proposed to award Vicente Tolodí, comissioner and art expert who has held many important positions in leading organizations such as the Tate Modern Gallery in London, the IVAM (Valencian Institute of Modern Art), ICA Amsterdam, the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto or the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía.

 

Also, this category is also directed to recognize the contribution of ideas and innovate projects of students from the UV in the frame of collaboration between University-Society. In this area the students that have been awarded are Raquel Baixauli Romero, in the area of Humanities, and Carlos Gómez García, in the area of Social Sciences. 

 

Moreover, within the category 'Teaching Excellence', awards aimed at academics and recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana, teachers winners have been: María Amparo Blázquez Ferrer, from the Department of Pharmacology; Francisco José Climent Diranzo, Department of Financial and Actuarial Economics, and Rosa María García Lopera, Department of Physical Chemistry.

 

The jury for the awards, which will be delivered on Tuesday, 16 December, was composed by Manuel Broseta, president of the Board of Trustees of the UV; Esteban Morcillo, Principal of the UV; Carlos Pascual, president of the Chair for Business Culture of the UV; José Vicente González, president of CIERVAL (Confederation of Business Organitation in the Autonomous Community of Valencia); Emérito Bono Martínez, full university professor of Applied Economics at the UV; and Joan LLinares, cultural manager and administrator of the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM).
