The Demetri Ribes Chair UVEG-CITMA presents at the city of Alacant one of its last works, the Guidebook of the bridges of the province of Alacant. The work has been coordinated by the Full University Professor of History of Art, Inmaculada Aguilar, head of the Demetri Ribes Chair, along with Miguel Aguiló, president of the Foundation Miguel Aguiló. The research is part of a long-running project sponsored by the Conselleria d’Infraestructures, Territori I Medi Ambient.
The lack of studies on the bridges of the province of Alacant, along with the graphical and photographic material made exclusively for this study, make of this guidebook a work destined to occupy an important place in the scientific production. The main objective of this Guidebook is to provide to travellers or readers a structured and abundant information on the cultural, historic and technologic aspects of these constructions: the bridges. The concept of heritage adopted for the preparation of this work breaks slightly the traditional idea used until now as it doesn’t limit its content to the constructions known as paradigms of past times in which usually are evaluated its antiquity and its historic value. The Guidebook dedicates special attention to the last attainments and didn’t renounce to include some of the very latest, in which highlights the value of innovation in both senses, compositional and technological.
The document, which can be consulted from the website of the Conselleria d’Infraestructures, Territori I Medi Ambient, will be presented at the Saló d’Actes of the Municipal Building Porta Ferrisa of Alacant (Jorge Juan St. 21), Monday 28 at 11:00. In the presentation will participate the Regional Secretary for Infrastructures and Transport, Victoriano Sánchez-Barcaiztegui; Carlos Eleno, General Director of Logistics and Transport; the Councillor of Development and Labour of Alacant, Carlos Castillo; Inmaculada Aguilar, Head of Demetri Ribes Chair and Miguel Aguiló, President of the Foundation Miguel Aguiló.
