The Forum of Debates and the Cinema Club of the UV offer the opportunity to make people know the experimental film “Araianos” and to discuss with its director some of the issues which the film deals with. The screening, which is free, will take place today Monday 9 June, at 19:00 at the Aula Magna of the Cultural Centre La Nau.

The presentation of “Arraianos” aims to open a discussion around the idea of resistances from the rural area through this portrait, not very conventional, of the inhabitants of a little village lost in the mountains of the Galician-Portuguese border, the “araianos” who the title of this second feature film by the young Galician Eloy Enciso makes reference to.

This work of experimental genre is 'border' also from a formal point of view, since it establishes a dialogue between cinematic forms supposedly antagonistic, and his boldness has been rewarded with several prizes in first-level competitions such as the BAFICI of Buenos Aires, the Cinema Festival of Locarno (Switzerland), the Non-fiction cinema Festival of Lima, the European Film Festival in Seville and the International Festival of Cinema d'Autor of Barcelona.

“Arraianos” bring closer to the spectators to a little village isolated in the no-man’s-land so as to show the spectators the inhabitants' daily rituals; the work in the fields, their treat to animals, idioms, and the absence of noise. Reality which gets confused with the fiction of myths and superstitions, with the arrival of a mysterious prophet's announcements. The film, with dialogs of a strong existentialist and nihilist content, combines the village’s daily nature with the plot of the theatrical drama “O bosque”, written in the Sixties by Jenaro Marihnas del Valle.

After the screening of the film, spectators will be able to take part in a dialog with the director of the film, Eloy Enciso.
