The exhibition Martínez Guerricabeitia will be shown at the Bancaja Cultural Centre from March

The Universitat de València and the Bancaja Foundation have signed a convention for the collaboration for carrying out an exhibition integrated by 72 works of social character from the collection Martínez Guerricabeitia. The showing is commissioned by artist Francisco Sebastián Nicolau and the exhibition includes works that form the donation of the Valencian patron.

The conference will be presented by the vice-principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València, Antonio Ariño, and the president of the Bancaja Foundation, Rafael Alcón, have signed this morning a collaboration convention to carry out the exhibition ‘Coleccionismo y mezenazgo: Jesús Martínez Guerricabeitia’ (Collecting and Patronage: Jesús Martínez Guerricabeitia), that will be held at the Bancaja Cultural Centre in Valencia starting next March until June 2016. In virtue of this convention, the Universitat de València will cede a selection of 72 works from the Valencian patron collection, donated in 1999 to the academic centre, for its exhibition in the showing organised by the Bancaja Foundation.

The exhibition commissioned by artist Francisco Sebastián Nicolau, will be showing works that form the Martínez Guerricabeitia donation to the Universitat de València, as well as the works acquired in the 12 Biennales celebrated between 1990 and 2014. 

The showing allows gaining a closer acquaintance with the most important figures of Spanish critical realism such as Genovés, Canogar, Equipo Crónica, Equipo Realidad, Monjalés or Vostell, Spadari, Erró, Heras, Armengol, Darío Villalba and Carmen Calvo, as well as artists from later generations such as Ugalde, Ydáñez, Urzay, Mavi Escamilla and Xisco Mensua, among many others. Artists that draw a rich and representative setting of the social art from the 70’s until now.

The showing at the Bancaja Cultural Centre will be held at the same time as the 13th Martínez Guerricabeitia Biennale organised by the Universitat de València at La Nau.
