The Faculty of Law is the venue for a symposium and an exhibition tomorrow on the centenary of forensic sciences

From Wednesday the 23rd November to today, Friday the 25th, the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia hosts a symposium commemorating the centenary of forensic sciences (1911-2011). The symposium titled ‘100 años de ciencia al servicio de la justicia’ (a hundred years service to law) consists of some lectures, at the conference hall of the library Gregory Maians, and an exhibition at the conference hall of the faculty. The subjects dealt are cybercrime, fire investigation, legal identification of corpses or ballistic studies, among others.

At the round tables and conferences, the cybercrimes, the evidence in a computerised form, the expert evidence, physiognomic studies, police technical investigation, genetic identification or forensic document science, among others, are going to be discussed.

While the symposium is underlining different areas of forensic science, the exhibition is showing the history of this police body from its origin in 1911.


The symposium started on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and is receiving Miguel Ángel Santano, assistant commissioner of forensic police; Antonio Moreno, head of the Valencian Community police; and Salvador Montesinos, dean of the Faculty of Law.

The Commissioner of forensic police, the training section of the national police, the Valencian Community police board and the Faculty of Law have collaboratend in the event’s organization.
