The firm Biópolis is acknowledged by Genoma España as an example of business success in Biotechonogy

Biópolis, a successful company.

The Valencian biotechnological company Biópolis, located at Universitat de València’s Science Park, has been acknowledged by Fundación Genoma España as an example of business success. This firm has excelled in the healthcare biotechnology field and is mentioned in a book including ten cases of industrial success.

All the companies mentioned by Fundación Genoma España –in the way of merging with Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT)-, are in the healthcare field. This institution aims to boost technological development, knowledge transfer and innovation, specially in the biotechnology field.

‘Biópolis is a very innovative company. It offers R&D services and products with a high added value’ the report says. ‘It is a flexible company, which adapts to the specific requests of every client. Its business motto is ‘Tailor made biotechnologia’ and they have two business areas: research and development on demand, and industrial production. All this aimed at food and agriculture, pharmaceutical and chemical industry.’

Located at Universitat de València’s Science Park, Biópolis employs 33 people, mostly graduates, 70% of them women. The scientific director is the full professor of food technology on an extended leave of absence Daniel Ramón Vidal. He has got a research national prize.
