Full university professor of Literary Theory and Audiovisual Communication at Universitat de València, Jenaro Talens, was was conferred with a doctorate honoris causa by Playa Ancha University of Educational Sciences (Chile). It was created in 1948, Playa Ancha University centres itself in the disciplines bound to Pedagogy and Human Sciences.

Talens’s work is also known in other countries such as in Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela, besides Chile. Playa Ancha introduced some of its curricular content with the Universitat de València model.

Jenaro Talens (Tarifa, 1946) was raised and educated in Grenada, where his parents moved to in 1948. He was the principal of the Spanish athletics team in 100 and 200 metres flat between 1963 and 1969, in which he retired from the tracks to dedicate himself to his university degree. After studying unfinished studies in Economic Sciences and architecture at University of Madrid, he received a doctorate in Romanic Philology at Grenada University in 1971.

Since 1968 he has been a professor at Universitat de València, where he was successively a professor of Spanish Literature, Literary Theory and Audiovisual Communication and where he supervises the Master's Degree in Interculturalism and the Communication Doctorate. A visiting Professor at different European and American universities (Minnesota, Montreal, California-Irvine, Buenos Aires, Aarhus, Berlin, Lausanne, etc.), he was, likewise, a full university professor of Hispanic Literature, Comparative Literature and European Studies at Geneva university between 1997 and 2011, which is the date of his Swiss retirement, where he currently works as a Professor Emeritus al Global Studies Institute.

He is also the author of an extensive poetic work, which was translated into more than twenty languages, and a translator, at the same time, among other, of Petrarca, Shakespeare, Hölderlin, Goethe, Trakl, Pound or Samuel Beckett. He published, as an essayist, more than 30 books and a hundred of articles about Theory and Literacy history, Semiotics, Theory and History of film and popular Culture.
