Dr. Guillermina Font, Professor of Toxicology, Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Food Science, Toxicology and Legal Medicine of the University of Valencia, has been elected to the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition. Holder of a Bachelor of Pharmacy in Granada and PhD from the University of Valencia, Font is a pharmaceutical specialist in Analysis and Control of Medicines and Drugs.
She develops her teaching and research work in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Food Science, Toxicology and Legal Medicine of the University of Valencia, of which she has been director between 2002 and 2008.
Since 2009 he is director of the Master in Food Quality and Safety. Currently she is chairwoman of the Spanish Association of Toxicology, a position she has held since 2007, and the Spanish Committee on Toxicology of the International Council for Science (ICSU-CE) since February 2008. She is a member of the Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX) of the Society of Toxicology (SOT) and the Hispanic Organization of Toxicology (HOT).
Her career has been related to the toxicological risk assessment in the area of food security, and she stands out as main research assessing risks from exposure to pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues and mycotoxins, addressing analytical and toxicological aspects, bioaccessibility and bioavailability of synergism, toxicity evaluation in vitro and in vivo procedures to reduce their presence in food.
In this context, her involvement in fifteen research projects, over a hundred publications, and management of fourteen theses stands out.
