Professor Joan Rafael Ramos has been selected to be the new Director of the Inter-university Institute for Valencian Language Studies (IIFV) seat in Valencia, which is a charge in which he will follow Professor Ferran Carbó, who is still head of Joan Fuster Chair.
Joan Rafael Ramos Alfajarín (Borriol, la Plana Alta, 1965) is a full university professor of the Department of Catalan at Universitat de València. He has been the Director of such department (2002-2009), the Director of the doctorate programmes of Catalan Language and Literature (2004-2013), the University orientation course leader (1992-2003) and a specialist of the Logse subject “Valencian language: language and literature of the University Entrance Exam” (PAU) (2007-2015).
In the research field, his researches about the study of syntax both from a synchronous point of view as for a diachronic one are important. He is the author of several books such as “Introducció a la sintaxi” (València, 1992) and “Els verbs ésser, estar i haver-hi en català antic” (Barcelona, 2000) and of numerous publications on national and international magazines such as “Catalan Working Papers in Linguistics, Catalan Review”, “Catalan Journal of Linguistics”, “Caplletra”, “Estudis Romànics”, “eHumanista” and “Normas”.
