The former scholar and researcher from the Human Rights Institute of Universitat, José Antonio García Sáez has been rewarded the Luis Ten del Corral Award, due to doctoral thesis titled “Political peace and International law. A comparison between political pacifism by Hans Kelsen and political realism by Hans J. Morgenthau”.
José Antonio García Sáez, who is nowadays a professor at the Faculty of Jurisprudence in Saltillo at the Autonomous University of Coahuila, Mexico. He also has a degree in law and a master’s degree in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice by Universitat de València. Professor García Sáez is still related to the Human Development Index (HDI), where he worked as research scholar until 2014. His research fields also extend to the study of theories on global justice in relation to the new social movements, international protection of social, economic and cultural rights, population movements or animal rights and environmental justice.
Professor and founder of the HDI, Javier de Lucas, showed his satisfaction for this award, and he said that “it has produced me a bittersweet task because it brings to light the value of research youngsters who produce us the fact that because of the government cutbacks these researchers can not keep working here and they feel the obligation of emigrating”. “It is not only unfair -he added- but it is also an academic inappropriate remark and an economic wastage”.
Luis Díez del Corral award was given to the young Valencian researcher unanimously by a jury. Worth with 3,000€ and his goal is to set value some doctoral thesis relatively to the History of the ideas and political forms, Political Theory Regulations and Political philosophy. The Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies is an independent organism of the Ministry of the Presidency and its mission is to encourage the analysis of legal reality and national and international socio-policy, giving special attention to all of those questions related to Spanish Law and institutions of Iberoamerican countries, as for their relationships with Europe.
