Josep Vicent Boira has been appointed as member of the advisory body for the urban environment by the City Council of Barcelona. This body is made up of 35 experts on different areas. Boira, the only non Catalan member, is a lecturer of Geography at the Universitat de València and director of Servei de Política Lingüística.
This advisory body of Barcelona advises the city government on the initiatives, policies and strategic lines of municipal action regarding architecture, desing, sustainability, environment, infraestructures, town planning, landscape and information and communication technologies. The 35 experts propose action measures regarding the urban environment.
This new body is having an advisory and consulting nature about the policies and strategies on urban environment. The initiative aims to promote ‘active mechanisms to permanently interact with the professional associations and experts to achieve a physical transformation of Barcelona, and to recover the critical sense and the constructive debate about the city’ municipal sources stated.
