
The Facultat d’Infermeria i Podologia's board appointed last March 12th Julio Fernández as new Dean of the faculty for the second time. He gained 20 votes in favor and 2 blank votes. His team will be completed with Vicente Ruiz, Isabel Trapero and Antoni Merelles.
Julio Fernández Garrido (Valencia, 1966) is a nurse, an anthropologist and has got a Phd of social anthropology. He is a lecturer in the Departament d’Infermeria since 1992. After some years working as a nurse and Teaching at the university (he worked in Clínico Universitario de Valencia and Residencia Publica de Silla), he eventually devoted his career to teaching and researching at Universitat de València.
His teaching experience is completed with a research activity –he is author of 3 books, many chapters of international books, 32 scientific articles, more than 50 lectures at conferences and he has collaborated in more than 10 research projects. He has been lately researching on the factors that affect life quality and citizens’ anthropology.
He has been collaborating with institutions and associations at national and international level for the promotion of nursing teaching, and this led him to become a member of Comité Nacional de Expertos para el Diseño de Especializades de Enfermería in te Spanish Ministry for Health and the Ministry for Education. Nowadays, he is secretary in the Conferencia Nacional de Decanos de Enfermería and he is vice-president in the European area of Asociación Latinoamericana de Escuelas y Facultades de Enfermería.
