The Libraries and Documentation Service has published on its website a document on 15th century music with works by Johannes Tinctoris (1435?-1511?). Theoretician, pedagogue, composer, singer and instrumentalist, Tinctoris is considered one of the most important music theoreticians in his time. ‘El manuscrit del mes’ section is an initiative which aims to present the digitalized documents within the international project ‘Europeana Regia’, where UV is also taking part.

Europeana Regia is an international project charged of digitalizing Middle Ages and Renaissance manuscripts. It is financed by the European Commission and the Universitat de València’s library is one of the collaborators. The project’s goal is to make three European royal collections accesible through the site Europeana. These collections are: Bibliotheca Carolina, Library of Charles V of France and Library of Aragonese Kings of Naples. The Universitat de València participates in this last collection digitalization with 92 manuscripts.

The project will allow to gather virtually some coherent manuscript groups coming from the same place, regardless their actual place of conservation.

Five institutions are participating in the project: the Bibliotèque Nationale de France (coordinating the project), Bibliothèque Royale de Belgique / KoninklijkeBibliotheekvan België, BayerischeStaatsbibliothek, Herzog August Bibliothek and Universitat de València.
