The ceremony for the University-Society Awards of the Board of Trustees of the University of Valencia took place yesterday, Wednesday, June 27.
One of the most important awards was the one given to the professor at the Juan José Renau Piqueras Department of Business Management, Dr. María Iborra Juan, for her Teaching Excellence and significant effort to incorporate innovative educational practices to the training in the area of Business Organisation, especially in the double degree in Law and Business.
In the speech on behalf of the winners, Dr. Iborra stressed the necessity of teachers to find the needed but sometimes difficult balance between research and teaching excellence. She highlighted the importance of creating a relationship based on mutual respect and learning with the student and of understanding the new teaching challenges (new technologies, teaching in different languages) as great opportunities for professional development.
The event was attended by the principal of the University, Esteban Morcillo, the president of the Generalitat, Alberto Fabra, and the president of the University-Business Foundation of the University of Valencia and of the Board of Trustees, Carlos Pascual. The seminar was also attended by representatives from the business world such as José Vicente González, José Vicente Morata, Vicente Boluda, Rafael Aznar and the councilors of Economy, Industry and Trade; Education, Training and Employment, among others.
