The Professional Integration and Employment Guidance Watch Centre (OPAL), managed by the Universitat de València’s General Foundation, has received the accreditation as employment agency thanks to the promotion of its students and graduates’ employability. This mention has been awarded by Sistema Nacional de Empleo through its section Servef at the Valencian Community.
The employment agency plays the role of mediator and advises, informs and guides people searching for a job in order to let them find one. According to OPAL’s director, Vicent González Romá, ‘since it was created, OPAL has been guiding the Universitat de València’s students and graduates facilitating their integration in the labour market.’ Actually, this service manages the job offers coming from 1,100 companies, which are at the reach of 11,000 people registered in a job bank.
González Romá has pointed out that ‘OPAL is really acting as an employment agency, and that is why we took the challenge of getting the accreditation.’ The accreditation has meant, on the one hand, ‘an external, official recognition of the task the service is already conducting. On the other hand, it opens the way to settle cooperation agreements with Servef in order to get different activities financed.’
Moreover, OPAL is accredited again the Quality Certificate according to ISO 9001:2008 standard. This standard guarantees the quality in the management of its services. OPAL is also accredited by Red Telescopio, an observatory of good practices in university management.
After being authorized a Employment Agency, OPAL keeps on working to achieve other objectives, as the development of Uniemprén platform, a crowdfunding project aimed at Universitat de València`s entrepreneur students. This new project is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. Uniemprén will connect people who need financing to make their business ideas a reality with crowdfunders who are willing to give support to those innovative ideas. The platform will be presented at the end of the year.
Another OPAL’s project is the organization of Fòrum d’Ocupació 2012 – the UV’s employment forum, which will take place the second week of November at Tarongers and Burjassot-Paterna campuses.
