
Last February 16th, Pilar Campins was reelected Dean of Facultat de Química. In the second round, Campins gained 21 votes, while the other candidate, professor José Pedro, gained 20. There was only one blank vote.
The Dean’s team will be composed of Francisco Estevan, as Vice-dean for studies, Maite Picher Uribes, as Vice-dean for infrastructures, research and business, and Salvador Gil Grau, as secretary.
Pilar Campins Falcó (Sueca, 1959) has a degree in chemistry at the Universitat de València’s Facultat de Química (1976-1981). She got her PhD in 1985 with extraordinary mention. Since 2002, she is full professor of analytical chemistry at the Facultat de Química of the same university, where she did a research internship and worked previously as assistant lecturer and tenured lecturer in 1987.
She has taught at the chemistry, biology and pharmacy faculties, and at the engineering school. She has directed 15 research projects related to studies on designer drugs and tumor markers as well as on emerging contaminants. She has introduced new concepts to chemistry, such as concepts on the area of analytical result quality.
She wrote near 180 scientific papers and book chapters at an international level, and has supervised 10 doctoral theses. Moreover, she is head of a research group created in 1988 (Mintota) and has collaborated with other groups in Europe. Her group receives scholarship holders and researchers from abroad.
Finally, she has great experience in university management, since she has held positions like the one of Dean of faculty from February 2009, Vice-dean (from November 2003 to February 2009) and member of the ANECA’s Comité de Ciencias experimentales (2007-2009). She is part of the UV’s advisory board from 2005 and has been member of the faculty board from 2002 to 2009.
