The Universitat de València’s Research Institute on Social Welfare Policy (Polibienestar) has organized an international encounter under the framework of a European project aimed at promoting social inclusion for people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, their families, and people at risk of social and work exclusion. The main goal of the project is the consolidation and creation of social relations between people affected by the disease, their families, and the groups at risk of social and work exclusion by means of activities related with dependency and caring of people suffering from that illness.
On the one hand, the project aims to prevent worsening of social relations among people linked with Alzheimer’s disease, and to slow down cognitive deterioration of people suffering the illness with care services for patients. On the other hand, the project wishes to promote social and work inclusion and new job opportunities in the field of socio-health care to Alzheimer’s patients.
Following this idea, last week Polibiestar organized an international attended by Progress project ‘Alzheimer: Tremplin intergénérationnel d’Insertion Sociale et Professionnelle’, which is financed by the European Commission and five Spanish and French entities are collaborating with. These entities are Centre d’Hébergement et de Réinsertion Sociale (CHRS) Moisson Nouvelles, Centre d’Etudes et d’Action Sociale (CEAS) du Var, Matr’isco-Methodis, SEAS -Sociedad Española de Asistencia Sociosanitaria-, and Polibienestar. The encounter’s goal was the coordination of training inter-generation actions to be carried out both in Spain and France. At the same time, some centres, where agreements are going to be signed, were visited such as the Castellón’s Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer, the town council of Burriana, residential homes for the elderly and elderly care specialized centre in the province of Castellón.
‘Alzheimer: Tremplin intergénérationnel d’Insertion Sociale et Professionnelle’ is one of the many Polibienestar’s project. It is an interdisciplinary research group that is specialized in research, innovation and social technology.
