
The professor of the Universitat de València Javier de Lucas won the Liberpress cinema prize awarded by the Diputació de Girona. Javier de Lucas, who has been defined by the president of the LiberPress association, Carles McCragh, as “a specialized theorist in the study of cinema from the human rights, the immigration and the xenophobic perspective”, is a full university professor in Philosophy of aw, moral and politics of the Universitat de València and founder of the Human Rights Institute.
Javier de Lucas, who received the prize from the president of the Council of Catalan Advocates, Abel Pié, has recently published the book “Mediterráneo: el naufragio de Europa” (publisher Tirant).
The Liberpress awards, which recognize individuals and entities in order to promote and make the culture of solidarity known, have also awarded the Charlie Hebdo magazine for its career, the writer Petros Márkaris, the Fundación Rosa Oriol headed by Sister Lucía Caram, and the Onu agency for UNHCR refugees. These awards have also recognised the artist Titouan Lamazou and the activist Carlos Drews. The Memorial prize has been allocated to remember two historical events: the shelling in Sarajevo and the killing of Srebenica.
