Rosendo Pou, lecturer of physical chemistry, is the new director of Universitat de València’s quality unit. Pou will replace Alfredo Pérez Boullosa. The Principal disclosed this new appointment during the governing council’s meeting, February 28th. The quality unit is the organism in charge of the coordination and management of the processes for the assessment and improvement of the institution’s quality.

Rosendo Pou Amérigo (Valencia, 1966) is a lecturer of physical chemistry since 2002. He studied chemical sciences at this university, where he obtained a mention for his degree studies, and he got his doctorate later in 1995. Being a member in the Unidad de Investigación de Química Teórica at the Instituto de Ciencia Molecular, he has worked mainly in the quantum-chemical characterization of electroactive molecular systems.

Over the last years, he has focused his efforts on the processes of teaching innovation and teaching quality in accordance with the framework proposed by the European Higher Education Area. For this reason, he coordinated the pilot project of educational innovation for the European convergence in the first year of the degree in chemistry (2003-2005), and he also coordinated the European convergence in the faculty of chemistry from 2005 to 2009.

Rosendo Pou was awarded the Premio a la Calidad e Innovación Docente 2010, granted by the university’s social council. He was also a member of the lecturers team, headed by Luis Ochando, that won the second prize UEM for teaching innovation in 2008.

Currently, he is a member of the institutional quality assessment committee of Agencia para la Calidad del Sistema Universitario de Castilla y León (office for the quality of the university in Castilla y León), where he has been collaborating during the last six years as an external assessor.
