Salvador Macip presents ‘Científics lletraferits’, the latest book from the collection ‘Monografies Mètode’, on Thursday, 12 June, at 19:00 at the Cerveró Palace of Valencia. The event, entitled '‘Ferits per la ciència: Contes de científics’ (‘Wounded by science: Stories of Scientists'), will feature physician and researcher Salvador Macip, co-editor of the book along with Jordi de Manuel.
During the event copies of the book will be given among the participants, that the subscribers of ‘Mètode’ have already received together with the last issue of the magazine.
‘Científics lletraferits’, with illustrations by the artist Jaume Plensa, is a collection of twenty stories written by outstanding authors of Catalan literature with technological or scientific training. The stories, each of which is equipped with its own personality, take us into worlds full of mathematical ingenuities, of references to biology, chemistry or the logic itself of scientific research. As the editors state in the preface, «this is a book that proves that the artificial boundaries we create between science and letters can be removed successfully».
The stories that make up Científics lletraferits have been written by Marià Alemany, Sílvia Aymerich, Miquel Barceló, Daniel Closa, Anna Crusafont, Carles M. Cuadras, Martí Domínguez, Xavier Duran, Rosa Fabregat, Jordi Font-Agustí, Teresa Franquesa, Isidre Grau, Amàlia Lafuente, Salvador Macip, Jordi de Manuel, Joan Marcé, Miquel de Palol, Pere Puigdomènech, Carme Torras and Carles Zafon.
This is the seventh volume published in the series «Monografies Mètode». The monographs are a great way to approach science from a new perspective. With an informative character and an accurate edition, the different titles of the collection allow us to deepen the knowledge of various topics and characters related to science. The monographs that have been published so far are: Albert Einstein. His age and his science (exhausted), Our naturalists, Charles Darwin. Autobiography, Beasts, Oxygen (exhausted) and Herbarium: living with plants.
