Taking care of the skin, what are the reasons why some people get more mosquito bites than others or the sequence of the numbers Fibonacci are the contents of the programme ‘Divulga’ of the Television of the University this week. Moreover, Carmen Aranegui is the protagonist of the Entrevista and the Expos is dedicated to the Museum of Geology of the Faculty of Biological Sciences. These are some of the proposals of MediaUni.
Mosquitoes do not bite because a person has sweet blood, tanning machines should be banned and sun lotions of today can turn into skin cancer tomorrow. All this, and much more, is what advises Full University Professor of Dermatology, Juan José Vilata in the ‘Divulga’ número 24. This programme of scientific dissemination, which is updated each Friday in the web of MediaUni, also seeks to demystify some popular beliefs on science. In this occasion Professor of mathematics Juan Luís Monterde explains what the sequence of Fibonacci is. Is this sequence of numbers really everywhere in nature?
This week also discusses archaeology in the programme ‘La Entrevista’ with Full University Professor Carmen Aranegui, expert in Iberian culture, who assures that “the Iberian identity has, without doubt, nationalist involvement”. And with the programme ‘Expos’ you can travel to the Museum of Geology (at the Faculty of Biological Sciences), in which Anna García, its curator, explains the importance of the museum as a pedagogic tool and reviews the most interesting pieces, as a rest of meteorite, fossils or minerals.
But the professors of the University are not the only ones who have a voice. Two university associations are also protagonists: ACMAS (Asociación Casi Médicos en Ayuda Sanitaria) i Psicólogos Sin Fronteras, which carry out cooperation projects with the help of the Delegate for students through the SEDI. To know them better you should see the programme ‘Viure la Uni’.
Moreover, as every week, a special twitter goes for the search of the opinions of four university students. The programme ‘#Alumn@s’ asks them about the environment to mark the celebration of its international day this Wednesday.
The Television of the University renews its programming every week, but any space can be seen again, at any time, in the website of MediaUni (http://mediauni.uv.es/tv). You can also access to all the contents through the account of twitter @MediaUniUV and the facebook of the University of Valencia www.facebook.com/universitatdevalencia.
