The Students Delegation, through its Students’ Guidance and Promotion Service (SEDI) and the cooperation of fourteen centres, have started a new programme aimed at students called ‘Entreiguals: mentoria d’estudiants’. Thanks to this programme the students in the last years of studies will advise and help the students starting their degrees and mobility students.
Mentoring in the university context is a bond created between a newly come student and another with some experience. This relationship helps developing some skills and knowledges. Through the Entreiguals programme, mentors help their mates in the first year of studies to get involved in the university world. This idea also tries to reduce university dropouts, improve academic performance, encourage social and political participation in the university context, etc.
To the implementation of this programme, several groups are taking part: a technical team from SEDI, each centres’ coordinators, the supervisor lecturers, the mentor students, the mentorized students and the newly come students.
This year, the centres involved in the programme are: the School of Engineering, the faculties of Sport Sciences, Biology Sciences, Law, Economy, Pharmacy, Philology, Physiotherapy, Translation, Physics, Geography and History, Nursery and Podology, Medicine, Psychology and Chemistry.
