The students who were representing the UV have obtained an unprecedented success in the 27th Edition of the National Olympiad of Chemistry, held last weekend in Oviedo. It is the first time in which a delegation gains a podium position in this academic competition. The absolute classification has been as follows: Damia Torres Latorre, from the Secondary School “Guadassuar”, has won the first prize; Alejandro Salinas Illarena, from the German School from Valencia, has been the second classified; and Carlos Saez Garcia, also from the Secondary school “Joanot Martorell” from Valencia, has been the third classified.

The Valencian students were accompanied by the teachers Juan Hernandez Perez (President of the Chemists Association of the Valencian Community) and Fernando Latre.

The three winners, along with a representative from the Balearic Islands, will represent Spain in the 46th Edition of the International Olympiad of Chemistry which will be held in Hanoi (Vietnam) by the end of July, as well as in the 30th International Olympiad of Latin American which will take place in Montevideo (Uruguay).

These outcomes must be added to those obtained during the last years by representatives from the Valencian Community, who have reaped four absolute victories in the last eight editions of the National Olympiads of Chemistry.
