The Trust for Musical Activities organises new courses for piano, stringed and opera.

Opened the registration period for the courses offered by the Trust for Musical Activities of the General Foundation of the University of Valencia in the second half of 2013. These three training on piano, strings and opera. In addition, the University will host the 28th November, the International Jazz Congress that this year is held in Spain for the first time. Stresses the eleventh edition of the course 'Open Opera: The Liceu in the University', coordinated and taught by Ana Maria Botella, from 30 October to 20 March (duration: 30 hours), to be held in the auditorium of the Cultural Centre La Nau. It is the only one of the three courses that asks no prerequisite, therefore, it is open to the entire university community.

The aim is to promote fondness for the operatic genre through the procedure more similar to attending a performance. This is achieved by the transmission of some of the operas scheduled for one of the world's most important theaters: the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, which students may attend.

Piano and strings

The course 'Repertory and piano performance technique II' will be led by Antonio Galera López on October 5 to January 31, 2014 and will run for 80 hours. Students must audition on the first day, which will be agreed on repertoire that will work on the course with the teacher. It will always be taken into account teamwork as an essential tool for solving individual problems that have to face the young performer. The course will take place entirely in the Sapiència Capella La Nau (C / Universitat, 2, Valencia).

On the other hand, preparing for a public presentation will be the main focus of the students. For this reason, they will perform a concert to be held at the Charles Darwin Room of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Campus Burjassot, on Friday January 31, at 19h

'Interpretation with stringed instruments VI: Solo repertoire' is the third of the courses, which will direct David Fons (viola) and David Apellániz (cello), from 22 October to 28 January (30 hours). Students are divided into groups of four. Each student will receive a 60-minute individual class of solo repertoire, the other students in the group will have to be there, at least to meet the minimum attendance of 30 hours, and hear the rest of the classes, since the class will be targeted to all together, regardless of the person entitled to play at all times.

The cello lessons will take place at The Societat Coral Micalet, while the viola lessons will be in the Music classroom Alameda (C / Pintor Peiro, 2, Valencia).

International Congress of Jazz in Spain

From 28 to 30 November, the historic auditorium of the University of Valencia will host the first International Congress of Jazz 'Jazz in Spain', held in 2013 in Valencia, under the organization of CulturArts, University of Valladolid and the Author Foundation.

This conference will update and submit to the scientific community the latest research on the history and presence of jazz in Spain from the hand of experts and protagonists of the genre.

'Jazz in Spain' is the first congress devoted to this subject in the Spanish State. It has an international and multidisciplinary approach, and over the three days, experts and musicians will address issues such as jazz came to Europe and its entry into Spain in the early twentieth century, the peculiarities of its consolidation in different cities and regions, assimilation of jazz from other musical traditions, the reception by the public and the media or the influence of some outstanding musicians in their development, among others.
