Universitat de València inaugurated the CRUE’s XVIII conference on Environmental Quality, Sustainable Development and Prevention (CADEP)

Universitat de València inaugurated yesterday the XVIII conference by the Permanent Seminar of CRUE’s Sectoral Commission for Environmental Quality, Sustainable Development and Prevention (CADEP). Universitat Politècnica de València collaborates in the organization under the framework of the sustainability strategy designed at Campus de Excelencia Internacional VLC CAMPUS. The conference was titled ‘Nuevos Retos de la Sostenibilidad Universitaria’.

Besides the Principal, the Vice-principal of infrastructures of Universitat Politècnica de València, Salvador López, the director for universities in the Valencian government, José Miguel Saval, the Vice-principal for sustainabilities and infrastructures at Universitat de València, Clara Martínez, and the director of prevention and environment service of this university, Màrius Vicent Fuentes attended the event.

More than 120 people registered in the conference coming from more than 40 Spanish universities, as well as experts and public institutions’ representatives for sustainability and occupational risks matters.

The conference took place on March 8th at the cultural centre La Nau during the morning hours, and at Facultat de Medicina i Odontologia in the afternoon. Today, the coference is being held at Jardí Botànic throughout the morning.

The opening ceremoy received the Principals of Universitat de València, Esteban Morcillo, and Politècnica’s, Juan Julià, along with the General Director of Universities, Higher Studies and Science in the Valencian government, José Miguel Saval. Later, specialized conferences took place. In the first one, the responsibility of researchers and occupational risks technicians were discussed, with the participation of Tomás Sala, Federico Pallardó and Joaquín Martínez Triguero. The certification of university buildings was analyzed by Víctor Manuel Soto, Jesús Candenas is analyzing environmental risks, and nanotechnology and its involvement in the prevention of occupational risks was discussed by Eugenio Coronado and Daniel Sainz.

Today, the Executive Committee and the CADEP’s Committee as a Whole are going to hold a meeting, both presided by the Universitat de Girona’s Principal, Maria Àngels Geli.
