Universitat de València pays tribute to Luisa Cardona

Yesterday, Universitat de València paid tribute to Luisa Cardona, who has recently passed away. She was a lecturer and a worker at Patronat Sud-Nord (South-North Trust. Solidarity and Culture). The Facultat de Filosofia i Ciències de l’Educació was the venue for the tribute. Esteban Morcillo, UV’s Principal, Ramón López, Dean of the Faculty, Guillermo Palao, chief executive of the trust, María Jesús Perales and Honorio Salmerón, lecturers, and Amparo Cardona, Luisa’s sister, attended the event.

During the event, the grants Becas Luisa Cardona were awarded by the Vice-principal for International Relations and Cooperation, Olga Gil Medrano.
 

Luisa Cardona Sahuquillo was a social educator and a lecturer, who had studied at Universitat de València. She developed her work at South-North Trust, which is a trust attached to the UV’s Genaral Foundation. She worked in development and cooperation projects. She helped with the grants to pay the fees of students coming from the south, among other tasks. Now, these grants are named after her.                                                                                                          

Since the 2007-2008 academic year, she was working in the Departamento de Métodos de Investigación y Diagnóstico en Educación belonging to Facultat de Filosofia i Ciències de l'Educació. She was writing her doctoral thesis on assessment tools for the different educational methods. She worked as an adjunct lecturer and was a collaborator in the Programa Específico de movilidad en América Latina, among other projects coordinated by her faculty.
