Universitat de València has scheduled some activities for the III Setmana per la Igualtat, which started yesterday, March 26th. This encounter has been promoted by the Office of the Vice-principal for Culture, Equality and Planning and its Equal Opportunities Department. The Principal's Delegation for the students is taking part as well. The activities are taking place at different university’ spaces.
One of the first initiatives took place yesterday: the Iranian political scientist Nazanin Amirian gave a lecture titled ‘L ’Islam sense vel. Una visió feminista i transparent’ (Islam without veil. A feminist, transparent visión). This lecture was organized by AVEM, which is the Valencian association of students of medicine, and was held in the Facultat de Medicina i Odontologia’s Aula Magna from 16:00.
Associació Psima (social workers against ill-treatment) has scheduled twelve workshops during the week about the basic concepts of gender and violence. They will be free and held in the morning or in the afternoon in Aula LH2, 3rd floor of Facultat de Psicologia.
Campus Jove has scheduled a debate on sexism in advertising that is going to be chaired by Amparo Gabaldón Coronado, psychologist and technician at Federació de Dones Progressistes. This debate is going to take place in Aula EP02 at Facultat de Magisteri at 12:30.
‘Dones lesbianes, bisexuals i transsexuals, doble discriminació!’ (Lesbians, bisexual and transsexual women, double discrimination!). This is the title of the campaign to be developed by Grup Jove Lambda during this III Setmana per la Igualtat week. At 18:30, a photographic exhibition is going to be open at 18:30 at Facultat de Geografia i Història.
On Tuesday 27th, the concert titled Piacere dei Traversi –by Silvia Rodríguez, cantus; Mercè Romaguera, altus; Laura Palomar, tenor, and Marisa Esparza, bassus– is going to be held in La Nau’s Capella de la Sapiència.
One of the main activities of this III Setmana per la Igualtat week is the lecture organized by the Equal Opportunities Department titled ‘Lideratge en temps de crisi, què aporten les dones a les organitzacions?’ (Leadership in an economic crisis context, how do women contribute to organizations?) by Sara Berbel. Berbel is a psychologist who has been director of Igualtat d’Oportunitats in the Labour Department of Generalitat de Catalunya. This event is going to take place in the Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació’ Saló de Graus at 16:30.
Then, a new cinema showing of cycle Dona i Creació Artística is being held thanks to Aula de Cinema. Pina, by Win Wenders is starting at 18:00 and a later discussion on the film is taking place at the hall of residence Col.legi Major Lluís Vives (Auditori Muntaner).
Finally, the match Heidis&Sparrings is scheduled at 20:00 in the sports pitch of Blasco Ibáñez Campus. This activity is organized by Grup Jove Lambda. The activities are finishing on Friday, March 30th, with a debate and the presentation of Miradas Aliada’s project conclusions, organized by Alia (association for equal oppotunities).
