Universitat de València’s lecturers participate in the reform of Derecho Patrimonial Español promoted by CRUE

The Universitat de València’s full professors of civil law, Javier Plaza Penadés and Francisco Javier Orduña Moreno, are taking part in the reform of the Spanish law of property (Derecho Patrimonial Español) promoted by CRUE (conference of Spanish universities’ principals). Under the framework of a group called Grupo Actualiza, jurists of eleven Spanish universities -València among them- are promoting the updating of private law in accordance with the amendments that have already been done by most countries in the European Union. Francisco Javier Orduña Moreno was recently appointed judge at the First Chamber of the Supreme Court.

This group has been created by a group of lecturers of civil law in these eleven universities. Its goal is to promote the academic and empirical debate in private law, as well as to boost the studies and research of contract law and the updating and reform of the Spanish private law. The Universitat de València’s Departament de dret civil is actively participating in this process.

Those who are promoting this initiative state that ‘in the current context, the initiative meets the Spanish society’s need for improving and updating its regulation tools in order to achieve a better effectiveness of assets tranfer.’

Last January 18th and 19th, the Principals of the universities Autónoma de Barcelona, Autónoma de Madrid, Cantabria, Girona, La Rioja, Málaga, Murcia, Pablo de Olavide, Santiago de Compostela, València and Valladolid signed an agreement to improve and support the activities of that jurists’ group, Grupo Actualiza. This agreeement was signed on the general assembly celebrated in Universidad de Salamanca.

This agreement has been fully supported through a document signed by the following lecturers: Ana Cañizares Laso, José Antonio Cobacho Gómez, Pedro De Pablo Contreras, María Paz García Rubio, Mªdel Carmen Gete-Alonso y Calera, Miquel Martín Casals, Francisco Javier Orduña Moreno, Javier Plaza Penedés, Teodora Torres García, Rosario Valpuesta Fernández, Francisco Oliva Blázquez, Francisco Infante Ruiz and Eduardo Vázquez De Castro.
