The Principal of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo and the general director of AECOC, José Mª Bonmatí, have signed this Wednesday a cooperation agreement, which means an important step in the relationship between the academic and business collectives. Specifically, the agreement allows to spread standards and practices of corporate efficiency between students and researchers.
The agreement is part of an ambitious project that AECOC (Association of Large Consumption Companies, comprising nearly 25.000 companies) has launched this course in a national level, with the objective of uniting professional of today with the future ones, in a climate of exchange of opinions and close knowledge to the reality and needs of Spanish business.

Through this project, AECOC and its associated companies will shown to the university collective the benefits of using standards and efficiency practices, which the association promotes and develops in Spain and that also contributes to the increase of competitiveness of the companies. In addition, students and teachers will have the opportunity to know “real” cases, where these tools are applied in different processes, with the help of professionals from leading companies of the industry and distribution of high consumption.
Virtual university
Thus, under the project , the association has created the Aula Virtual of AECOC, an authentic “virtual university”, that works as a meeting point for students, teachers and companies, who participate in the activity. The Aula allows to exchange opinions and knowledge between all members of the academic community on various issues, as well as to know the latest news, reports, topical studies, and job offers of interest for this collective.
Moreover, the project includes the announcement of the Awards AECOC Món Acadèmic, which will distinguishes the best academic researches related with this issue. Includes a financial award of 15.000 Euros, these awards recognize the excellence and effort of the best works; as well as to gain and bring closer to business collective all the talent that exists in universities. Through this initiative AECOC hopes to contribute, in the words of its General Director, José Mª Bonmatí, “ to provide to future professionals “tools” that allow them to compete with higher probability of success in the labour market and to offer to the companies and Spanish society and economy professional highly qualified to compete in the new economy”. Not surprisingly, the project AECOC-Món Acadèmic brings together the professional of present times with the professionals of the future, through the valuable link that represent their teachers.
